North Carolina has always been one of the most beautiful states in our nation, right?  That's easily half the reason that we're one of the fastest growing states in the nation as well!  Literally thousands of people move to North Carolina every single year---and while we're happy to have new neighbors, we also know that more people means that we'll have a greater demand for energy. 

Everyone does want electricity, right?  And we are still planning on driving cars, aren't we?

The problem is this:  The more energy that we need, the more pollution that we create.  Why?  Because we still rely on fossil fuels like coal and oil to meet our energy needs.  Carbon---which lasts in the atmosphere for 100 years once it is released---is being pumped into our beautiful state at a rate that just doesn't seem right. 

So what have we decided to do? 

Write the Governor, of course! 

The way we see it, if anyone can drive change in the kinds of energy sources that our state uses, it's probably the big guy (or girl, depending on the year) at the top.  So we've worked together to research the kinds of energy sources that other states and countries have chosen to pursue and put together this collection of open letters arguing in favor of energy sources that just might make more sense than the ones we're currently using. 

Check out our letters and see what you think.  Do our ideas make sense?  Why or why not?  Have we been persuasive in our thinking?  What could we have done better?
